Mr. Blue is recognized by the State of Georgia Cultural Arts Program, as a Certified Master Teacher. He is currently participating in the State of Georgia's Master of Traditional Arts Grant program.

As originator of the first Atlanta Blues Society, Sammy held a workshop with R. L. Burnside and "Memphis Skim" in conjunction with the Music Works School of Traditional Music.
