Sammy Blue @ 550 Blues
Taj Mahal said that Atlanta's Sammy Blue is one of "the best kept secrets in roots music." Taj is among the list
of stellar artists who believe in the sound of Sammy Blue -- and it was through the school of these A-list players that
Sammy Blue has been donned "The Crown Prince of Blues." If you've witnessed Sammy Blue at 550 Blues,
then you know it's a show that fits like the glass slipper-from the country Blues to the rhythm & Blues,
along with jazz influences of those that nurtured his talent. Sammy Blue personifies the stage with
extraordinary blues man talent.
-- Eleventh Hour newspaper, Macon, Georgia
"'Everythang & Mo' is one of those rare well-rounded projects where all the styles
attempted work. Humor, intelligence, and a willingness to experiment are all
elements in revitalizing the blues.
Sammy Blue has done a good job putting these qualities to work."
-- Blues Review Magazine
"So here is your bluesman for all occasions, who can do "Everythang & Mo'".
Certainly talented and versatile.
-- Juke Blues Magazine
"Sammy Blue is a stone-cold killer of contemporary blues."
-- Tropicana
"Blue handles all the guitars, dirty-slide, choppy funk rhythms, delicate finger-picking,
wah-wah leads (with appropriate taste and tone). Never over-playing.
-- Blues Review Magazine
"And the (Sammy Blue) band raved on as the backing group for
James Cotton and Snooky Pryor.
A good time was had by all."
-- Music Extravaganza
"Blue freshens traditional themes with timely updates."
-- Blues Revue Magazine
"Mr. Blue has lived everything he sings about."
-- Creative Loafing
